Discover The Pizza Vagabond

If you're ever in Amsterdam and craving a slice of pizza that’s as unique as the city itself, The Pizza Vagabond is a must-visit. Located at Czaar Peterstraat 106, 1018 PS, this cozy eatery serves up more than just your typical pizza. It’s a place where flavor, creativity, and passion collide, offering a memorable experience for anyone with a love for Italian cuisine.

What sets The Pizza Vagabond apart from the many pizzerias in Amsterdam? For one, it’s the perfect blend of authenticity and innovation. The menu is a tribute to traditional Italian pizza-making, with a modern twist that makes every bite feel fresh and exciting. Whether you're a fan of a classic margherita or you're looking to try something new and daring, there's a pizza here that will speak to your taste buds.

One of the restaurant's standout features is the quality of its ingredients. The owners have gone the extra mile to source only the finest local produce, combined with premium Italian imports. The dough, for example, is made fresh daily, allowing it to achieve that perfect balance of chewy and crispy that all great pizza should have. The sauce, rich in flavor but never overpowering, is the perfect base for the toppings, which range from fresh mozzarella to local vegetables and unique meats. It’s clear that every pizza is made with care and attention to detail.

During my visit, I tried the “Vagabond Special,” a pizza that perfectly encapsulates everything this place stands for. Topped with spicy salami, fresh basil, and a drizzle of olive oil, it had just the right amount of heat, balanced out by the fresh flavors of the basil. The crust was thin and crispy, yet soft enough to give you that satisfying bite. It’s not just a meal, but an experience, one where each ingredient is carefully considered to create a symphony of flavors.

The atmosphere in The Pizza Vagabond is just as charming as the food. It has a relaxed and inviting vibe that makes you feel at home the moment you step through the door. The rustic decor, complete with wooden tables and vintage posters, adds to the cozy, laid-back feel. It’s the type of place where you can easily spend hours enjoying good food, great company, and a few glasses of wine. The staff, friendly and knowledgeable, are always happy to guide you through the menu, helping you choose the perfect pizza or wine pairing.

Another thing worth mentioning is their dedication to sustainability. The owners have made a conscious effort to reduce waste and use eco-friendly packaging whenever possible. It’s a refreshing touch that aligns with the growing trend in Amsterdam to embrace sustainability without sacrificing quality.

If you're wondering about the price, The Pizza Vagabond offers good value for what you get. It's not the cheapest option, but when you take into account the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience, it’s worth every cent. A meal here isn’t just about filling your stomach; it's about savoring every bite, enjoying the atmosphere, and appreciating the craftsmanship that goes into every pizza.

The restaurant also has great options for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, or just prefer something lighter, the menu has plenty of choices that will suit your needs. For instance, they offer a delicious gluten-free crust that’s just as satisfying as the regular dough, and their vegan pizza options are a hit among plant-based eaters. It’s clear that The Pizza Vagabond strives to make everyone feel welcome, regardless of their dietary preferences.

When it comes to reviews, it’s no surprise that The Pizza Vagabond is highly rated by locals and visitors alike. Many note the high quality of the food, the welcoming ambiance, and the exceptional service. It’s a place that consistently delivers a top-notch dining experience, making it a go-to for pizza lovers in Amsterdam.

Next time you're in the city, make sure to swing by The Pizza Vagabond. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch, enjoying a casual dinner with friends, or having a romantic evening out, this spot offers the perfect setting to indulge in some of the best pizza in Amsterdam.

  • My new favourite pizza restaurant in Amsterdam. We go there at least once a month and have been more than twice when they had the pizza with the squash purée as their monthly special. They should definitely think about keeping it permanently. Being a pizza enthusiast, I have tried all the well rated places in Amsterdam and have also done a trip to try those in Italy especially Naples and that pizza is among my top and number one on most days. It gives you a restaurant feel which a lot of other pizzerias in Amsterdam fail to provide even with a similar price point. The service is friendly and polite. It’s a small place so do try to reserve in advance if you aren’t planning to get a take out.

  • Absolutely amazing! This is the kind of pizzeria that never disappoints. I’ve ordered and picked up from here more times than I can count, and each pizza somehow manages to top the last. The dough is always delicious. They use top-quality ingredients that truly make a difference in taste. On top of that, their service is incredibly fast and reliable. If you’re looking for consistently delicious pizza, this is the place!

  • I needed 35 pizzas and normally they don’t deliver but they made an exception for me. 35 pizzas in a bakfiets have you ever seen that? Hahaha. What an angel!!! Thank you so much. The pizzas were amazing.

  • Cozy pizza joint that serves up super tasty pizza (we had salami and burrata; squash with caramelized onions and sage—maybe top pizzas ever). Also, very friendly and attentive service. Will be back.

  • Patrons at Vagabond Pizza were stunned last night when Johan P., 42, loudly announced that the restaurant’s quattro formaggi “finally gave him the unconditional love he’s been searching for.” Witnesses report he then ordered two more pies and asked if he could be buried with one. Anyone who flashes an Italian ID at the counter gets a 15% discount, “a gesture of respect,” according to the owner, “and also because Italians complain louder if we don’t.”

  • INSANITY! As an Italian, the best pizza I’ve ever had in the Netherlands so far is here at The Pizza Vagabond; I ordered my favorite (Napoli) and it was insanely good, atmosphere is nice and cozy and the staff is fantastic. I suggest you book in advance as the pizzeria is quite small and always busy. I will 100% come back as long as I’m here in the Netherlands.

  • Best pizzas we've had in the Netherlands, real Napolitan. The special of the month was Norma with super crunchy friend aubergine. As a cheese-lover, I would prefer the ricotta in another format and not grated. The pizza vagabond has the best meatballs we've ever tried. Even if a meatball pizza might sound heavy, it's light and the meatballs are so tender to eat. The homemade lemonade tasted very healthy but too bitter to our taste, wouldn't have it again. We highly recommend ordering the vagabond tomato sauce to dip your crust, very tasty and you can feel pieces of tomato, definitely homemade. The restaurant is very small with only a few tables, so we recommend booking in advance. The kitchen is just behind the tables. We'll definitely be back whenever we want some good pizza and try their popular desserts. The staff are very nice and accommodating, Italian. Special mention to the nice set-up in the bathroom where instead of paper to dry your hands, they have individual hand towels fresh for each use that you throw on a basket once you've used it. Great sustainabile and hygienenic initiative.

  • Stumbled down from the brewery for an early dinner on a Wednesday night. This place is the real deal - vero pizza di Napoli. Friendly service, great food, and I got to practice my Italian. Dare I say best pizza in Amsterdam???
